You are what you eat. By balancing a digestive health, beauty will follow. Carla Oates, alias The Beauty Chef, believes that organic skincare and food is the most sustainable choice for the health of both the individual and the environment. As a beauty chef, she is creating beauty products from foods in her kitchen and herbs from her garden, working together with natural health practitioners and formulators.
“My organic skincare range blends selected food ingredients with a natural fermentation process to bring out the very best of al our ingredients and keep the skin’s ecosystem strong and healthy,’ says Carla.
The beauty chef believes in the power of food fermentation. Fermentation is already a familiar concept in different (sub)cultures, it is believed that bacteria can be good for your inner body. Carla has been fermenting food for years and noticed the skin benefits of consuming fermented food like kimchi, saukercraut and kefir. “Eating these foods helps clarify and rejuvenate the skin from the inside, so it glows on the outside.” She applied the process of fermentation also to topical skincare. “Fermented ingredients are making the nutrients more bio-available for the skin as they have been broken down to be more easily absorbed as well as more nutritious and active.”
